Jay Farrar tickets

It is an so exciting that the Jay Farrar and Ben Gibbard show is only a month away. I hear that the Varsity Theater is sold out, but there are still Varsity Theater tickets available at some local retailers.

As I have blogged before, the duo will be performing music from "One Fast Move Or I'm Gone: Music From Kerouac's Big Sur" which is the soundtrack from the movie by the same name. The album is out now and you can see all of the jams live on Sunday, January 21st at the good ol' Varsity Theater! I will be there - I cannot wait to see the collaboration of two amazing musicians. I love love Death Cab and I have grown up listening to Son Volt and Uncle Tupelo.

Varsity Theater tickets are very limited for this performance, don't wait until the last minute!

pictured here: Zoey Deschanel, the lovely wife of Ben Gibbard. yes, yes, I know she will not be at the show, but she is too cute not to mention when you think of Ben Gibbard.

Miike Snow tickets

Indie Sweedish rockers, Miike Snow, have just announced a show at the Varsity Theater for early 2010.

Their song, "Animal" has certainly been getting a lot of airplay on my beloved XM U Satellite Radio Station. Not to mention it already has just a shade under 75,000 plays on their Myspace page.

The upcoming tour is the first headlining tour for Miike Snow, many of the shows are already sold out. It is worth mentioning that their songs from their debut album, hilariously titled, "Miike Snow" have been remixed by Peter Bjorn & John, Mark Ronson, and treasure Fingers just to name a few. In return, Miike Snow has remixed songs for Kings of Leon, Peter Bjorn & John, and Vampire Weekend. Even if you do not recognize their jams maybe you've heard some of their remixes.

Varsity Theater tickets for Miike Snow are on sale now. The Varsity Theater only holds about 800 people, which isn't a lot of room for all of the Miike Snow fans in Minneapolis!

See you at the show!

Citizen Cope tickets

Not one, but two of Brooklyn New York's Citizen Cope shows have been announced at the Varsity Theater. Usually when he stops by MPLS Citizen Cope plays at First Avenue, however, it looks like he is just playing 2 (soon to be sold out) shows at the Varsity instead.

Varsity Theater tickets for this show went on sale last week. Riddled with severe record label complications (being dropped from Capital, buying out his contract with Dreamworks, etc) this has not stopped Citizen Cope from his vast touring schedule. Known for his live shows he has gained a large following via his own headlining shows and festival dates.

His songs "Suns gonna rise" and "Let the Drummer Kick" were both featured in Acura and Pontiac commercials. So even if you cannot think of a song you may know by Citizen Cope you probably recognize those songs from the commercials.

Don't miss the opportunity to see an amazing live act - you have not one, BUT TWO chances at an amazing concert venue.

Saturday, March 6th and Sunday March 7th, 2010 at the Varsity Theater. Both shows are 18+ and opening acts have not been announced.

See you at one of the shows!

Yeasayer tickets

New Yorks's very own buzz band, Yeasayer, is hitting the road in early 2010 in support of their current album, "Odd Blood" which will be released on February 9th, 2010. However, rumor has it that the album has already been available online, leave it to internet geeks to spoil the fun!

Yeasayer has toured with MGMT and Beck just to name a few, however, Minneapolis music fans may know them from a little show called Rock the Garden which takes place in the Walker Arts Center Sculpture Garden every year. The show was sold out! Varsity Theater tickets are on sale now for the Yeasayer show. You should buy Varsity Theater tickets for this show ahead of time, the Varsity holds less than 1000 people so there will be far more demand than tickets for this one!

See you at the show!

Ben Gibbard Jay Farrar tickets

MAJOR CONCERT ANNOUNCEMENT !!!!!!!!!!
BIG NEWS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ben Gibbard from everyone's favorite Death Cab for Cutie is playing a show with 1/2 of Uncle Tupelo/frontman for Son Volt, Jay Farrar.

Quite the dynamic duo, right? I can't wait for the show. I bought my Varsity Theater tickets the second the show went on sale! There is no way that I am going to miss this show. I am a huge Death Cab fan and I have not heard a Son Volt song I haven't liked.

This tour is going to feature an odd side project of sorts. Ben and Jay will be performing music from “One Fast Move or I’m Gone: Music From Kerouac’s Big Sur,” which is a collaborative album that uses pieces of prose from Jack Kerouac’s “Big Sur.” It pairs the famous novel’s writing with acoustic arrangements. The album accompanies a Curt Worden documentary film by the same name.

Ben Gibbard and Jay Farrar at the Varsity Theater is an odd couple of sorts to be touring, defintley something I will NOT be missing. Buy your Varsity Theater tickets now, because they will be gone before you know it!

The XX tickets

The next hottest little buzz band from England right now, The XX, just had a sold out show at the Triple Rock awhile back, and they have just now announced another Minneapolis show at the Varsity. Good move on their part to a bigger venue, but I don' think it will be quite big enough - the Varsity only holds about 800 people. Just based on the buzz that people are creating about these guys I think they should be in First Avenue's main room, but that is just my opinion.

Varsity Theater tickets go on sale on Saturday. And rest assured that it will sell out. I for one am going to buy Varsity Theater tickets for this show IMMEDIATELY. I will NOT live through another Big Pink disappointment. No way no way!

You may recognize The XX's songs "VCR" and "Crystalised," which was iTunes single of the week awhile back.

See you at the show!!!

Owl City Tickets

Owatonna's own Owl City is back in Minnesota for a different kind of hometown show: Jingle Ball. As you know, Jingle Ball tickets are a hot commodity this year with the Jingle Ball line up including Pitbull, Boys Like Girls, Jordyn Sparks, and 3!0H just to name a few.

Owl City was just at the Varsity Theater last summer and the show sold out in a very short amount of time. I was able to find tickets last minute at this great website www.owlcitytickets.com where I ordered online and had my Owl City tickets in hand the next day. The show at the Varsity was amazing, Owl City setlist was filled with all of the jams you now hear on the radio like "Fireflies."

Owl City tickets for Xcel Energy Center Jingle Ball 2009 are on sale now. The show starts early on Sunday, so plan ahead and buy your Owl City Tickets now!

See you at the show - you do not want to miss the concert event of December!

Quiet, Please tickets

The Varsity Theater is adding a new concert experience to the Minneapolis music circut: 'Quiet, Please.' Basically the Varsity Theater is advertising this as an even more intimate concert experience than they already offer.

Quiet Please is featured as the low volume concert experience. The Varsity is going to offer a living room like atmosphere that features an 'in the round' set made up of couches and chairs. Because the stage will be in the middle of the Varsity and seating (although not reserved) will be limited, Varsity Theater tickets for the Quiet, Please performances will be very limited as well.

The first band that will be featured in this new setting will be Duluth, Minnesota band, Low. You may recognize their jams from the Current. So if you are looking for a concert where you do not have to wear earplugs and want to sit in an atmosphere even more intimate than something like the State Theater you may want to check this out!

Edward Sharpe tickets

I know, I know. Another Edward Sharpe post. But seriously I can't wait for the show on Sunday. I did not get to see The Big Pink show, so I am really looking forward to this one. I am a little bummed that Varsity Theater tickets sold out for this show because there a few friends that I would like to drag along to the show.

The final countdown: TWO DAYS!!!!

I have been following Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zero's Twitter page and reading all of the tour updates. I can't wait to see what they have to say about Minneapolis. I have also set aside 20 bucks to buy a t shirt to commemorate this concert, this is one that I will want to add to my giant collection of concert t's. I am keeping my fingers crossed that I can leave work a little early on Sunday so I can head over the the FREE Electric Fetus in store at 3pm. Oh the excitement!!!

See you the SOLD OUT show Sunday night!

ps, Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros' song "Home" was the NPR song of the day today! Yeah!

Dark Star Orchestra Tickets On Sale Saturday

Listen up Dark Star Orchestra fans! Everyone's favorite Grateful Dead cover band has just announced a show at the Varsity Theater. This is a change of pace for them, if memory serves me correctly Dark Star Orchestra usually plays at at Pantages or State Theaters, their crowd and clientele is a little different than what you usually find at the Varsity.

Varsity Theater tickets are on sale starting Saturday for this event. I would expect that Dark Star Orchestra tickets will sell out considering they usually play at larger places and their fan base is very dedicated. Jam bands and their fans stick together for generations and generations, no?

Don't miss Dark Star Orchestra at the Varsity Theater Wednesday, February 3rd, 2010

Har Mar = Success!

Despite being overly tired and exhausted Friday night after work, I STILL managed to put myself together to go to Har Mar at the Varsity. I couldn't let all of my loyal bloggers down who were looking forward to a review?! What kind of blogger would I be?

Well, I go there in time to see one of the opening bands, Lookbook. I must admit, I am not a huge fan of women singers as I'm sure you have read a rant here and there before, but this guy/girl duo were awesome. Their' music had it's own unique sound - bravo Har Mar for choosing these guys.

Har Mar packed the Varsity with old school fans like myself and brand new just out of high school fans. I was a bit surprised, Har Mar usually attracts the ladies, but this time around it was 50/50 boys/girls. Varsity Theater tickets had to been about sold out, some were still available at the door when I got there, but it was super packed when I left at the end of the night.

Har Mar Superstar took the stage in a African tunic which was worn over a zig zag long sleeved sequin shirt. It didn't take long for it to all come off in true Har Mar fashion. He played his new jams, he played his old jams - slowly I think my new favorite Har Mar jam to see live is the "Girls Only" song he wrote for the Cheetah Girls.

All in all it was a great night - I even bought some "Tall Boy" beer coolies. They are pretty much going to be the hottest gift of the holiday season. The show was a little bittersweet, it is so apparent that Har Mar has moved on from the stage - which is understandable and exciting as he is one talented guy!
See you at the next one!!!

AND THIS JUST IN .... EDWARD SHARPE AND THE MAGNETIC ZEROES IS SOLD OUT. SOLD OUT!

More Edward Sharpe News!

Hello on this fine Thursday! Today when I logged onto good ol' Twitter I noticed that Electric Fetus had updated their Twitter - and it was some super exciting news ... Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeroes have agreed to do an in-store performance at the Minneapolis Electric Fetus!!! The best part about it is that it is free. No monies needed to see the show!!!

So, in case you cannot swing the $$$ for Varsity Theater tickets to the show on Sunday night, you can see them for free at Electric Fetus at 3pm. I am not going to lie, I am psyched to go to both shows. No going to the Vikings game for me (and prying my eyes from the TV is going to be hard to do, too). I don't know what it is about these guys, but I am so excited to see them, I know they are going to be awesome!!!

Thank you Twitter for making me aware of this awesome additional show.

See you there!!!

November is here ... Edward Sharpe tickets are here

In case you may have lost count ... the Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeroes show is only 27 days away! We are down to less than a month here kids! Can you feel my excitement because I have not been looking forward to a show like this for ages.

Varsity Theater tickets
are still available. I bought my Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeroes tickets last week and there was a stack of them left. The show is over a holiday weekend, but I hope enough people make it to the show to fill up the place. Regardless I will be in the front singing along to every song!

See you at the show - I can't wait to see who the opening acts are ... but I don't think they have been announced yet...

Har to the Mar SUPERSTAR

Minnesota's finest, most eligable bachelor (hopefully nothing has changed) is coming back to Minneapolis for not one but TWO shows this November. More specifically Har Mar Superstar is playing at the Varsity Theater on Friday, November 6th after he is done with his previous headlining show at the Triple Rock.
Normally I am the kind of super fan that would go to both shows, but I have already bought Minnesota Wild tickets for the game against the Vancouver Canucks on November 5th so I can't make that one. But I will 100$ be at the Varsity for this one. If you have not seen Har Mar before you haven't lived.

He is touring in support of his new album: Dark Touches. Not every city gets the back to back shows like Minneapolis. Har Mar was actually just here last month to play a show at the Uptown Bar, which as you may know is closing in less than a week. Har Mar wanted to play there one last time before it closed, as a musician who has played the bar circuit in Minneapolis as extensively as he has, the Uptown Bar was one he frequented. Oasis played there even! It's a legendary place to say the least.

I am going to tell a story. The story of how Har Mar was introduced to my life. It all started back in 11th grade when my friend, Rachel and I went to a Hives concert at good ol First Ave. One of our other favorite bands at the time, The Mooney Suzuki, was supposed to open for them, but their van broke down and were stuck in Chicago. Since they still needed an opening act they called the 'house act' at the time, which was Har Mar Superstar. We were in awe while we watched a short, hairy man fashioning a skullet that looked like ron Jeremy's brother danced on stage to a mini disc player and took off his clothes. It was love. At the end of the show we got free tickets to see his next show at First Avenue and at that one we got more free tickets to the show after that, etc.

It's cool to see him as such a successful person. Har Mar lives in Los Angeles, he has been in movies, vodka ads, toured with so many of my favorite bands, but he always comes back to play shows for his peeps in Minneapolis. Much love to Har Mar. I have been to more of your shows than I can count!

I am going to buy my Varsity Theater tickets after work today for this show - I'm not going to miss it!

Varsity Theater Tickets On Sale for Pinback!

Punk rockers Pinback are back in Minneapolis for a show this November.

Pinback has not released an album since 2007's "Autumn of the Seraphs." They are still touring in support of the album, they are known for their vibrant live shows and dedicated fan base. In the past they have played various venues around Minneapolis like the Triple Rock and the 7th Street Entry. I think they may have even played the Varsity Theater before.

There have not been an opening acts announced for this show.
As I have said before, the Varsity is a small venue, they hold only about 800 people. If Pinback is one of your favorites don't delay - buy your Varsity Theater tickets now!

Pinback formed in 1997 in San Francisco, California.
Pinback is just one of the many bands singer/songwriters Armistead Burwell Smith IV and Rob Crow have been in.

Saul Williams at the Varsity

Everyone's favorite spoken word preforming artist Saul Williams is town for a show at the Varsity Theater this month on the 25th. In addition to spoken work Saul Williams is also known for his collaborations with musicians such as Nas, Zach de la Rocha, Erykah Badu, The Fugees, and De La Soul.

One of my all time favorite Nike commercials was the one last year for the Sparq Training line. Nike used Saul's "List of Demands" song which is pheonomonal. If you are looking for a good workout jam to add to your gym playlist this is definitely one that has to be on there.

You can see the commercial here on YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HD6oabwzVbQ

Don't miss one the most intelligent, insightful performances of the year with Saul Williams at the Varsity Theater! Varsity Theater tickets are on sale now for the show - they will sell out!

See you at the show!

Freaking out a little right now!

ASDKFJSADKFJLKJF9#$&())__^$ !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I just found out that my favorite new band, Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros, will be in town for a show November 29th!!! Sure, it is the same day as the Vikings/Bears game, but I don't care - I can't wait to see these guys. I have left several messages on the band's Myspace page, merely suggesting that they make a stop in Minneapolis on their tour. My wishes were granted - they are coming!!!

Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros is the new project from Alex Ebert. You may recognize his name from the band Ima Robot. They are on tour in support of their new album "Up From Below" which I would like to point out is the BEST album I have bought in months. Easily since Deer Tick's self titled release in June.

Sunday, November 29th 2009 - Edward Sharpe and Magnetic Zeros with special guests Fools Gold and Local Natives - this is an 18+ show

See you at the show!!! I am going to buy my Varsity Theater tickets for this show asap! I can't wait!

This news has made my day - that and the Twins won the first game in their double header today!.

Owl City at the Cabooze?

One of my favorite acts to see at the Varsity, Owl City, appears to have abandoned it in the dust. Owl City is playing at the Cabooze instead of the Varsity this month. I am not sure why there was a venue change this time, both the Cabooze and the Varsity hold the same amount of people. Like all Owl City shows this past year, the show is sold out. Owl City tickets are hard to find, so you may need to exhaust all of your options to get a ticket.

The Cabooze is an ok place to see a show, it is just kind of layed out funny. I am keeping my fingers crossed that someday Owl City will play at First Avenue, where Owl City tickets may not be as difficult to find - First Avenue holds 1200 people!

Don't let the Cabooze scare you away - the show will be great!

Check out Owl City's music on their Myspace page!!

See you at the show!

Don't miss Owl City, Saturday, September 26th at the Cabooze

Flyleaf at the Varisty!

You may have heard of Flyleaf on the radio if you are an avid 93X listener. Well they are going to be playing a soon to be sold out show at the Varsity Theater this fall. Flyleaf are known for their debut album "Flyleaf" which included their singles: "I'm So Sick", "Fully Alive," and "All Around Me."

Varsity Theater tickets
for Flyleaf go on sale this Saturday, September, 19th. Paper Tongues will open the show, and the show is all ages. If Flyleaf is a band you want to see be sure to buy your Varsity Theater tickets as soon as possible, I am pretty sure this show will sell out.

Flyleaf is Monday, November 9th - so there will be no parking issues, the Varsity Theater is definitely an area of town you will want to avoid when there is a Gopher game!

Long time no see!

There hasn't been a lot going on at the Varsity Theater, but it looks like I let the updating get even the best of me!

There is, however, a big show coming up this weekend. Hometown band, Solid Gold, will be playing at the Varsity. Varsity Theater tickets for this show will popular -Solid Gold have not had a show in the area in awhile.

They have had a busy summer - both in the states and abroad. Solid Gold just completed their tour which took them through Scandinavia, Stone Henge, the English seaside, and into the heart of London. Opening for the show is Mystery Palace, who on tour in support of their new album coming out soon.

Be sure to check Solid Gold out this Friday - I'm not sure when they're next show is!

Keller Williams (No! Not the Realator)

The one man band jam, Keller Williams, will be in town for a show at the Varsity on October 22nd, 2009. He has a jam band fan following, Keller Williams has played with Yonder Mountain String Band, String Cheese Incident, Umphrey's McGee and Ratdog. All of which are huge jam bands.
I'm not sure if Varsity Theater tickets for this show will be in demand or not, however, I am assuming that most people will buy tickets for this show last minute. Varsity Theater tickets will sit around for Keller Williams and then fly out of the box office.

Check out Keller Williams' music on his Myspace page here.

Keller Williams tickets go on sale this Saturday!

The show is 18+

Did anyone go to Phoenix?

So did anyone make it to the Phoenix show? I am curious as to how it played out. I heard that the AC was broke at the Varsity and the show was completely sold out - what an interesting and sweaty night that must have been!

In other Varsity news indie stars Ra Ra Riot have announced a return show to Minneapolis this September. They are still promoting their debut, The Rhumb Line, on a lengthy headlining tour starting in September. Some dates they will be still an opening act for bands Death Cab for Cutie, The New Pornographers, and Andrew Bird. On the dates Ra Ra Riot will headline the openers will be Princeton and Maps & Atlases.

I'm pretty sure that last time Ra Ra Riot was in town they played at First Avenue, which holds 400-500 more people. If this is a show you're really wanting to attend be sure to buy your Varsity Theater tickets now. Ra Ra Riot tickets at the Varsity Theater are on sale now!

Josh Ritter show announced!

Singer/sound writer Josh Ritter will be in town for a Varsity Theater. He is taking a break from the Fine Line, which is where Josh Ritter usually plays when he is in town.
Born in Moscow, Idaho, Josh Ritter has a very traditional story of his rise to success. Starting out playing small clubs and open mic nights around his college town he caught the eye of a an Irish band, the Frames, and eventually went back to Ireland with them to record and make music.
After learning how much he made on cd sales at open mic nights Josh Ritter was able to make enough money to stop odd coffee shop jobs and just do music full time. The following album, Golden Age of Radio cost Ritter only $1000 to make.

He was signed to V2 Records in 2005 and is currently touring in support of his latest album.

Varsity Theater tickets for Josh Ritter are on sale now and will sell out fast - all of Josh's shows have sold out at the Fine Line!

Matthew Sweet is coming to town!

One of alternative music's indie grandfathers, Matthew Sweet, has announced a show at the Varsity Theater this summer. Even if you can't quite place Matthew Sweet, I know you've heard him on the Current. Matthew Sweet is famous for his vast musical catalog, but most notably 1991's 'Girlfriend.'

Everyone remembers this one! I knew my Uncle George had a copy, my Aunt Rene had a copy - anyone who was cool had a copy!

18 years later Matthew Sweet is still touring and recording music. Matthew Sweet's more current endeavors involve Susanna Hoff, former Bangles member, which result in their side project, Sid and Susie. They are releasing their second album of cover, "Under the Covers Volume 2" on July 2nd.
Varsity Theater tickets are on sale now for this show. Buy your Varsity Theater tickets for this now, Matthew Sweet sells out First Ave every time he is in town, and the Varsity Theater is much smaller!

To go to the Doves or not.

So the Doves show is only a week away. I am dying to go, but I have been to so many concerts lately that the novelty is starting to wear off, I'm just getting kind of burned out, you know? It's a little frustrating because I have been dying to see the Doves since I became a fan about 5 years ago. They don't tour very often, let alone the stage, and let alone the MIDWEST, but I'm still not sold yet. The $110 Springsteen ticket last week still has me in the hole a bit. Varsity Theater tickets for this show are still available, however, I just shouldn't spend the money!

To go or not to go - that is the question!

Maybe I will see you there!

Sounds like The Sounds are in town!

Yup! It's finally Friday! That means the Sounds are in town! I have my Varsity theater tickets ready to go and a new dress to wear, but I don't know if its going to be warm enough - it looks like its going to rain tonight. I just tried to call to see what time the sounds start tonight and the lady at the office totally hung up on me! She said that is not determined until doors open and to call back. Before I could say "thank you" she had already hung up. Bad customer service!

Well, I am going to leave work here in a few to get ready for the show ... see you there! And i really hope there are no riots in Dinkeytown tonight - I would really like to not get arrested - this girl has to work in the morning!

Phoenix, anyone?

Remember that movie, Shallow Hal, from like 8 - 9 years ago with Jack Black and Gwyneth Paltrow. It's by the Farrelly brothers, the same guys who brought you There's Something About Mary! So throughout the whole movie they kept playing this song over and over in dance scenes when Jack Black, or rather "Shallow Hal" was out dancing in clubs with the ladies. Well, Shallow Hal was on the other day on Comedy Central and it drove me crazy trying to think about who does that song!
So thanks to good ol Sirius Satellite Radio the other day and low and behold the song came on and it was called "Too Young" by Phoenix. Of course I slapped my forehead and said "DUH!" I know those guys - just like you do when you hear those songs. And wouldn't you know that Phoenix is coming to town in support of their new album and playing at The Varsity Theater! Varsity Theater tickets for this show may or may not sell out, Phoenix has been around for awhile and has a following, but I haven't heard much about their live shows.
Regardless, buy your Varsity Theater tickets early for this show!
I may see you there!

One week until the Sounds!

Do you have your Sounds ticket yet? Varsity theater tickets for this show are almost sold out - very few are left! I can't wait for this show. The Sounds' new album isn't even out yet (minus the single they have playing on their myspace page) so I won't know all of the songs, but I will be singing along to all the old ones.

While I'm at the Sounds show next weekend I am going to buy my Varsity Theater tickets for the Doves show on May 28th! I haven't seen the Doves and last time I had tickets to go their show at the Ascot Room, but they had to cancel due to a death in the family. Its too bad the Mercury Rev won't be opening this show like the last one!

See you are the shows! Hopefully there will not be any riots in Dinkeytown when I'm in the area for these shows!

Thursday, April 2, 2009

Who bought their Sounds ticket?

I did! I still need a date though.
I know its not for over a month, but I really didn't want to be wandering around Minneapolis begging for Varsity Theater Tickets like some of my friends are doing for Gaslight Anthem on Saturday. (If anyone has a ticket seriously let me know, I have a buyer!)
The Sounds show is reminding me of yet another reason Spring is awesome and that is because of all the concerts that are coming to town. I have a full calendar this Spring as far as concerts are concerned.
I did find out that the Sounds are going to be touring in support of their new album "Crossing The Rubicon" which should be out very soon seeing as their tour has already started.

Get your Varsity Theater tickets soon! This show will sell out!!!

Friday, May 8th @ the Varsity

See you at the show!

Second Show Added!!!!

Gary Louris & Mark Olson from Minneapolis based band the Jayhawks are playing a sold out show at the Varsity Theater on February 21st. If you're looking for a Varsity Theater ticket for this show, you are out of luck. All the local ticket outlets are sold out and Ticketmaster. Unless you know someone at the Varsity or Loring Pasta Bar you are going to have to listen from outside!

...still dying to see the show?

Then you better act fast! They just announced a second show at the Varsity on February 22nd. If you act fast you may be able to grab some Varsity Theater tickets for this show! But they'll sell out just as fast as the last show!

I had no idea that The Jayhawks front man was so popular still. even at First Avenue the demand is not not this great!

I won't be making it to this show, but I will definitely be seeing you at Glasvegas!

I'm Back! Glasvegas is awesome!

Long time no update here on the Varsity theater site! Life has been busy, the holidays have been upon us, what can I say?

Anywho, there are a lot of great shows coming up at the Varsity.
Owl City (pictured below) will be playing a show on February 13th (day before the Valentine's Day Wild game, whoo hoo!) Owl City is a one band electronic dance band from our very own Owatonna, Minnesota. You can check out their music on the band's myspace page: www.myspace.com/owlcity

For Christmas, my boyfriend bought me a Sirius/XM Satellite Radio thing. I love it. I haven't listened to my iPod in the car, the regular radio or my cd player since I've gotten it. It's awesome. The XM U station plays indie rock and the thing that I love about it is that I don't know a single band that is played on it. Sure, I know the old Pavement and Sonic Youth jams, but the new music I have never heard before and I love it. One of my greatest finds on it is this band called Glasvegas from Glasgow, Scotland. There is a lot of buzz around the band's debut album so I think Varsity Theater tickets for this show are going to be a hot ticket! I know I am going to go! And I am definitely getting my Glasvegas tickets for this show asap.
